Camp has been a significant part of my spiritual journey, and that’s why I want to encourage you to be a part of camping ministries this summer. Whether you send your children to Vacation Bible Camp, Camp Mishewah, or Stayner Camp, or volunteer for a week, or even take your whole family with us to Camp Mishewah for Family Camp… I think you miss a huge opportunity for you and your family if you miss out on camp. But why???
Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray. Mark 1:35 (NLT)
I know I’m taking this verse a bit out of context, but Jesus took time to get away from the crowds and ministry so He could listen to His father. He often took his apostles away to teach them. There is something significant about taking time away to connect deeply with God and other people. That’s exactly what camp does, and it’s why I think it’s so important.
For me camp;
- gave me leadership training
- gave me new experiences as a child for life and my relationship with Jesus
- has been the place where I’ve been able to listen deeply enough, and get guidance form others about significant life changes
- it’s where my kids and I have made lifelong friends
- it’s where my whole family change our pace, relate differently to each other, and connect with God in significant and special ways
Consider attending, sending (family), or lending (a hand) this summer. Registration opens soon so don’t miss out on what could be some of the most significant weeks of the year for you and/or your family.
